Since I have left France in 2005, I have been several additional names. I have my Chinese name "杜傑爾" (Du Dje E), and my Japanese name "デュア ガエル" (Dyua Gaelu) but also my fighter names "Doctor of Pain" (Tribute to the EVO guys), Gael "Punisher" Dur (Tribute to MMA Pancrace). I mention that as I use the first one to sign my pictures. Anyway, any of these names represent the half aquatic scientist, half mixed martial artist I am, and this site focusses more on the former half.
As an aquatic biologist, I am interested mainly in the animal component of the plankton, i.e. the zooplankton. I present you different information about my research on this website. The title of this site reflects my approach in studying zooplankters, which is detailed in the research interest page. Since February 2016, I am an Associate Professor at Shizuoka University (Japan) in charge, with other colleagues, to develop a brand new course which emphasis international viewpoint.

I've practiced several martial arts since I am 6 years old including Judo, Taekwondo, Capoeira, Muay Thai & Muay Boran, Yoseikan Budo, Grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Natural I ended up being an MMA fighter. I had to leave the life of an MMA fighter but I am sticking to the life of a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter. For those addicted to MMA like me, I give you also something to bite on on the hobbies page.
